The Answers

How do we register our band?

Go to www.originalselection.com.au and follow the steps.

Established artists will be redirected to Sonicbids. Emerging and youth artists will need to fill out the online registration form.

What's in it for me and my band?

  • Great opportunity for you to market your band by using facebook, twitter and your real world networks
  • At the close of voting the top bands in each category will be invited to play at Caloundra Music Festival
  • A panel of industry experts will be listening to every single band that registers
  • Fame and glory... what more could you want?

But what if we're really, really good but lacking in numbers?

If your that good than you have the opportunity of being the Industry Pick. An industry panel will choose a select number of awesome bands based solely on their talent. Basically, we'll take you out of the running and put you straight on stage.

Will we get paid?

If you go through to Kings Beach Tavern you've secured you're spot on stage at Caloundra Music Festival but your pay rate depends on your performance at the Original Selection events.

The industry panel will chose the best band on each night of the Original Selection events and they'll get the highest pay package and tickets.

The pay rate of the remaining 2 bands will be determined by the vote of your fans, friends and family.

What's the Grand Industry Prize?

Bands that win 1st place at the Original Selection events will go on to perform at the Grand Finale at Kings Beach Tavern, 6pm Saturday 10 July 2010 . The winner of the Grand Finale will score the following:

  • Support act for Powderfinger at the Caloundra Music Festival
  • Extra $500
  • $4000 Recording package at Heliport Studios, produced and engineered by Tony Byrne
